Consultation on Gedling Bus Plugs – Have Your Say to Retain Reliability

Since the Bus Plugs were introduced, there has been a strong campaign for their removal by motorists who complain about that their journeys being longer because they have to use the new by-pass. Remember how much longer the 100 used to take to get through Shearing Hill in the queue of traffic?

Pathfinder 100 has benefited significantly from the introduction of the bus plugs with:

  • £1m investment in brand new, high quality vehicles for improved passenger comfort
  • The quickest scheduled journey time in to Nottingham for 11 years – average just 25 minutes from Burton Joyce
  • 32% increase in bus journeys on the 100 and 26 timetable – now 525 per week
  • Patronage growth of over 30% in the past 12 months

Our on bus research shows that 74% of Pathfinder 100 customers feel the bus plugs should remain as they have helped speed up the journey into Nottingham and the amount of traffic on the route had reduced.

Nottinghamshire County Council is now undertaking further consultation on the Gedling Bus Plugs and will be sending surveys to households in Burton Joyce, Gedling, Lowdham and Southwell. The surveys will also be available on bus or download your survey (pdf).

We would urge all Pathfinder 100 customers to participate in the consultation to ensure the views of bus users – the people the Bus Plugs were designed for – continue to benefit from a reliable bus service and avoid returning to the days of queuing at Shearing Hill/Burton Road traffic lights.
