Nottingham City Transport welcomes Nottinghamshire County Council’s proposals for the future of the Gedling Bus Plug as part of their current consultation process.
In August 2008, the Company had concerns about the impact of their planned withdrawal on bus users, who could have faced a reduced timetable and much longer journey times.
The bus plugs have been welcomed by bus users and recent on-bus research on the Pathfinder bus route, which operates through the bus plug, shows that 75% of customers supported them, stating they had helped speed up their journey in to Nottingham and they had reduced the amount of traffic in the area.
When asked, as part of the research, 74% of customers felt the bus plugs should remain.
Mark Fowles, NCT Managing Director commented, “Last year we were very concerned about the impact the withdrawal of the Gedling bus plug would have on the Pathfinder 100 bus route and welcome the three options proposed by the County Council about their future. We appreciate the local concerns some local residents have had about them and trust the options offered will allay these issues and ensure our buses can continue to run reliably”.
