It’s not Just the Daffodils Bringing a Touch of Yellow to Bulwell!

With Spring finally looking like it’s arrived, daffodils won’t be the only thing to bring a touch of Yellow to Bulwell - 12 revamped buses will brighten up the streets from Monday as the frequency of buses on Network Yellow Single Deck Busthe 68, 69 increases by 33%!

From Monday 15th March 2010, customers travelling on Yellow Line 68 and 69 between Bulwell, Sherwood Rise and the City Centre will see their service increase to a bus every 7 or 8 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, offering over 11,000 extra seats every week.

The improved frequency will also be extended to start earlier in the morning and run later at tea time, to meet growing customer demand on this busy route.

Customers in Snape Wood, Hempshill Vale and the Hoewood Road area will see buses running every 15 minutes each way around the Bulwell Estate loops, an increase from the current 20 minute service.

David Astill, NCT Commercial Manager commented, “Since we improved our bus service in the north west of the City in March 2007, we have seen fantastic passenger growth on the 68 and 69 and the improved frequency will provide lots of extra capacity to continue this growth.”

He continued, “We have an excellent record for growing bus patronage in Nottingham, thanks to continued support from the local authorities. Investment in bus shelters, electronic displays and bus stops by the City Council along the 68, 69 routes have provided improved waiting areas for customers and brings the complete package together”.

The revamped buses, refurbished inside and out in the latest livery, provide extra room for customers with pushchairs, being able to accommodate up to 3 per bus. The new vehicles on the 68, 69 routes also have two bays inside, which allow 1 wheelchair and 1 pushchair to be carried at the same time, giving improved accessibility on the route, compared to the old buses which could only accommodate one or the other.

Some minor timetable changes will also be made to Yellow Line 70, 71 and 72 towards the City Centre on Monday to Friday mornings before 09:30 to improve reliability.

New Yellow Guides are available now at all normal NCT outlets and new timetables are below:
