City Transport Ltd (NCT) is in the driving seat when it comes to helping
staff to look after their health.
The company provides all of its 1,000 employees with health cover on the Westfield Health Chamber Primary Health Plan after they have worked for the company for six months.
Employees can claim money back towards the cost of everyday healthcare such as dental treatment and optical care.
And by having regular check-ups and treatment this ensures that any problems can be detected and treated at an early stage.
Mick Leafe, NCT’s Human Resources Director, said: “We believe that the health and physical and mental wellbeing of our employees is of paramount importance and providing a healthcare plan is a means of demonstrating our commitment to our staff.
“We’ve had positive feedback from individuals and it’s a great staff benefit. We’ve found that the optical and dental benefits have been popular. I regularly use them myself and have found them to be very helpful as they help me to budget for my everyday healthcare.”
The Chamber Primary Health Plan provides employees with cash back towards the cost of physiotherapy, acupuncture, chiropractic treatment and diagnostic consultations. The plan also includes a scanning benefit, providing fast access to MRI, CT and PET scans which can help to detect serious conditions such as heart disease, brain disorders and cancer early, at a potentially treatable stage.
Mr Leafe said: “We have had a few instances of the scanning benefit being used. In those cases there could have been a serious medical problem, so it’s good to know that staff can get quicker diagnosis by using the Westfield plan.”
Employees can also access a 24-hour freephone counselling and advice line and up to six face-to-face counselling sessions.
In addition, a GP telephone consultation benefit enables employees to speak to a fully qualified UK GP at a time convenient to them.
