Description:
A very pleasant pub situated on an island at a busy road junction, just to the north of the city centre. There is one bar area, with four other separate sitting areas, one at a lower level than the rest. The walls are decorated with original artwork, all of which is available for purchase. An extremely large, hidden beer garden at the back is a remarkable find, split into two distinct areas, one at ground level and another at a higher level. The pub featured in the Guardian & Observer 200 best pubs 2009 and had the distinction of having the best pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord for miles around. On the bar are four regular beers and two guests. A full menu plus daily specials is available every day (there is a hour break at 4pm during the week), most of the food being sourced locally.
