Description:
From the tram stop, walk to the end of the road and turn left.
This is the home of Alcazar Brewery, which adjoins the pub. One large room wraps around the bar, the area to the right has sofa style seating, but the rest is more traditional and there are good bar chairs. It is mainly carpeted, but with black and white chessboard like tiles close to the bar. An old sign advertises Bass Pale Ale at three shillings (15p) for a dozen bottles. Down some steps at the rear is a really good beer garden. The Thai food served here from 12-3pm and 6pm-10pm (not Sun.) is legendary, and represents extremely good value for money.
