Description:
The pub is named after the impressive monkey-puzzle tree in the front area that is over fifty years old. In the open plan bar, stools mix with comfy chairs and settees, and it is popular with the trendy set and a definite circuit pub at weekends when it can be very crowded. It is indeed good to see decent, reasonably priced real local ales in a place like this! The front opens out onto a heated patio. There is a separate restaurant upstairs which is also available for private hire. Locally sourced food is served from an imaginative menu, and real ale is available with your meal. Breakfast and coffee is served in the bar from 8am.
