This famous and historic pub is built into the side of the castle rock with a number of rooms formed from the sandstone. There are four bars and a sitting rooms downstairs, one of which, Yorkey’s Lounge, contains a collection of old music hall and film stars’ autographed pictures from the collection of one of the former owners. There are two further rooms upstairs, the Rock Lounge has a case containing the infamous Cursed Galleon, and the Museum Room has a tapestry depicting the history of Nottingham. An unusual pub game “Ringing the Bull” can be found in one of the ground floor rooms. The pub can get crowded, as it is very popular with tourists. For those feeling peckish the pub serves breakfast, and then a large selection of starters, main meals and desserts are served daily until 8pm. Outside there is a courtyard and also a seated pavement area.
