Description:
Handy for Meadow Lane football and rugby ground, this is an historic pub originally built to serve the adjacent Trent Navigation canal with the former stable buildings for the canal horses still standing. After being boarded up for some years, the pub was completely refurbished in 2008 and now boasts a large, light and airy, open plan interior, with one long bar, and a smaller room at the rear. There are picnic tables outside at the rear. In addition to a selection of real ales, which always include three from Magpie Brewery, located a few hundred yards away. An interesting range of foreign bottled beers is also available. It is proposed to install an
in-house brewery in buildings to the rear of the pub.  A viewing window is already in place adjacent to the future brewery, which will enable customers to view brewing in operation from inside the pub.
