Description:
The Vat is a traditional, single bar drinkers’ pub, so named with tongue firmly in cheek because of its proximity to the tax offices. It is the brewery tap for the next-door Castle Rock brewery; tours may be booked through the pub. It is a quiet pub, geared for conversation, except on the last Sunday of every month when the Hot Club, a gypsy guitar band, plays in the early evening. There are a few tables on the patio at the front for outdoor lovers and smokers. Cards, dominoes and various board games are available if you fancy a little distraction. Food is served at lunchtimes, Monday to Friday only, but various filled rolls are on offer while stocks last.
